Cleaning and storing your toys
Good care keeps your toys hygienic and makes them last longer. Always follow the maker's instructions for your toy first.
Cleaning
- Wash before and after every use with warm water and a mild, unscented soap, or a toy cleaner.
- Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth or let it air dry.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach and alcohol-based cleaners unless the instructions say they're safe.
Electric and rechargeable toys
- Check whether your toy is waterproof. Only fully submerge toys that are rated for it, such as products marked IPX7. For anything else, wipe the body clean with a damp cloth.
- Charge as the instructions say and never use a damaged cable.
Using toys safely
- Use a fresh condom if you share a toy, or move it between partners.
- Never go from anal use to vaginal use without washing the toy or changing the condom. Bacteria can spread and cause infections.
Storing
- Keep each toy in its own clean, dry bag or pouch.
- Don't let toys made from different materials touch. Some can react and become sticky or damaged.
- Keep them away from heat and direct sunlight.
When to replace a toy
If a toy is cracked, torn, sticky, smells strange or has changed colour, it's time to replace it.
