Bondage basics

Bondage is about trust. These basics keep it fun and safe for everyone involved. Our products are for adults aged 18 and over.

Talk first

Before anything starts, agree what you both want to try, what is off limits and how you'll check in. Everything should be consensual, and either person can change their mind at any time.

Agree a safe word

Pick a word or signal that means stop immediately. A simple option is red for stop, amber for slow down or check in, and green for keep going. If someone can't speak, for example when gagged, agree a physical signal such as dropping an object.

Start simple

Soft restraints and light bonds are a good place to begin. Learn how to release them quickly before you use them.

Stay safe

  • Never leave someone who is tied up alone.
  • Avoid anything around the neck or anything that could restrict breathing.
  • Check circulation often. Fingers and toes should stay warm and pink. If there is tingling, numbness or colour change, release the restraint straight away.
  • Keep restraints snug but not tight. You should be able to slide two fingers beneath a cuff.
  • Keep safety scissors nearby for emergencies.
  • Avoid alcohol and drugs, as they affect judgement and consent.

Aftercare

Afterwards, check in with each other. Offer water, warmth and time to talk. Different people need different things, so ask.
